I played the Ruben route and enjoyed the story, but I felt like the choices didn’t change the outcome much. Kinda disappointed there’s only one ending, but I still had a good time reading it.
The demo version caught my interest, so I bought the full version of the Ruben route. It is not bad per say...however...
First of all, there are some coding errors in the game, and at least one page had same paragraphs showing up twice, also Stat View is missing Chapter Two.
The story and the plot are ok and the characters aren't bad either...it is the relationships I have a problem with. To say, I'm disappointed, is an understatement. Yes, it says in the description "You can behave as you wish and do not have to worry about the LI wishing to break up with you, the only thing that changes is their disposition." but, seriously?! Even if they don't wanna break up with me, I should still be able to break up with them, right...?
Yeah, no, so none of your choices actually matter. In the end, you are forced into a relationship, intimacy, and being in love with the LI, even if you despise them and never show any interest in them and basically tell them to F* OFF whenever possible...not to mention you are forced to become a "parent" (ugh).
This experience left me pretty much as frustrated, irritated and pissed off as my character after their time in the tower.
Yes, I get that it is one LI per route kinda thing...but I would still very much appreciate not having that LI being forcefully fed to me when I'm not interested. There should be an option to say "NO" in a way that actually matters and truly also means "NO". Let us hate each other, or at least be just friends, or turn him into a villain and make him force himself on me while I get to hate him, or just let me be miserable and and myself, something, anything.
I mean it IS a romance game 😅 it makes sense to end up in a relationship with the character whose route you bought...
I get it if you ended up not liking Ruben's character but I think it's silly to play this wanting to reject him when the romance is the whole point of the game
LOL nowhere in the description does it it say that it is a romance game. (but yes, I know it is)
However, since it is described to be about breaking the curse, choices and self-discovery...shouldn't those things be the main focus of the game. Plus, more often than not even games that are strictly about romance, have a way to refuse to enter a relationship. Plus, since this game has 5 different variations of it, it would make sense to offer each of them a hate/forced/friend paths, instead of making a separate route for that...unless of course route 6 would contain all 5 LIs in a huge party mix chaos.
But seriously, is it really that wrong to wish to enjoy the game and the story without being forced into a relationship that feels fake as sh*t?
Is is not just because I dislike Ruben's. I mean, yes, he is an a**hole and there is really nothing even remotely likable about the guy, but it is not his personality that rubs me the wrong way (I could definitely see my character falling for him under different circumstances). It is the way the relationship is forced upon that bothers me. It feels fake, artificial and forced. Choices end up meaning nothing and in the end you are not even given choices, and that is the part that sucks.
i mean... the game is under the romance tag, and the structure of the game is pretty explicitly built around romance routes. i can't really tell what you want. if you don't want to play a romance game, then just don't??? but don't play a romance game and then complain that you're "forced" to romance the character you specifically chose to romance lol.
The premise of the game seems to be whoever finds the phoenix marries them (or uses them in some way to form an alliance with the phoenix kingdom), so being forced to be married and have kids isn't necessarily weird, but it would be nice if the game acknowledged if it was a political marriage if you don't like the LI rather than a marriage of love.
remembered i got ruben's route and decided to replay it again. was wondering if there is a way to lower your stat to be more on the bleak side than hopeful and if it has any effect cause everytime ive played i always got that bar high

People find a way to complain about anything, I mean I guess the only thing left to do is just don't play the game?😭
